Delhi College’s Standing Committee on Tutorial Issues on Wednesday handed the draft syllabi for the primary semester of the 19 four-year undergraduate programs, whereas 4 members dissented in opposition to the decision.

The college has accredited the implementation of the Nationwide Schooling Coverage (NEP) and the four-year undergraduate programmes (FYUP) from the 2022-23 tutorial session.

In February, the Government Council (EC) of the college handed the draft Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF), formulated in response to the NEP, for the 2022-23 tutorial session.

“The draft syllabi ready by 19 departments have been handed by Delhi College’s Standing Committee,” confirmed DU Dean of Faculties Balaram Pani.

He stated the syllabi for different programs might be handed within the coming days.

“We have now plans to cross the syllabi for all programs by means of the Standing Committee within the subsequent three to 4 days. We are going to finalise the syllabus for the FYUP first semester within the subsequent 15 days,” Pani added.

Following the Standing Committee’s approval, it will likely be introduced to the Tutorial Council (AC) and the Government Council.

4 members of the committee — Rajesh Kumar, Biswajit Mohanty, Kumar Shantanu and Nidhi Kapoor — protested in opposition to the decision. The dissenting members identified the “procedural lapse of offering inadequate time for minute remark” of the syllabi of 19 topics.

The members stated that deliberating solely on the content material of the primary semester syllabi can be a “futile activity”.

“Except we look at the papers of all 4 years, it might be unattainable to offer feedback on the disjunctions, overlapping, continuity or discontinuity of papers within the subsequent semesters,”they stated.

“Aside from this, a common apprehension of lack of rigour and dilution of content material was felt among the many representatives which was not satisfactorily addressed by the authorities,” the members famous.
