Meals science professor Michael Dunn mentioned the competitors is “actually a superb alternative for our college students to realize expertise with dairy merchandise and to community with individuals within the dairy trade.”

The group coordinated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to construct the prototype. The machine performs each microfiltration and ultrafiltration and may take away small micro organism corresponding to E. coli.

“We put in the machine on the sting of the pond, dropped the tube into the water and turned on the pump,” mentioned workforce member Bethany Parkinson. “When the water got here out of the filter for the primary time, we had been thrilled. It was as clear as glacier water.”
