Srinagar, October 22: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal, on Saturday visited saffron fields in Balhama and adjoining areas to supervise the harvesting of saffron and flower harvesting, which is in full swing lately.
Speaking to saffron growers, Director Agriculture mentioned that Geographical Indication (GI) tagging has created a world popularity for Kashmir saffron.
He mentioned that this has opened new home windows for Kashmir saffron and the division is making efforts to make sure that all of the globally accepted high quality requirements are met through the cultivation and post-harvest administration of saffron. GI tagging is making saffron successful story.
