Firefighters in northern Argyll have warned others towards putting crystals in home windows after a home fireplace broke out in Connell.
Known as to a home on Saturday afternoon, Epin volunteer firefighters supported the crew from Oban to assist put out the small fireplace.
The hearth was began by an ornamental crystal globe in a window. The solar powered via the crystal and ignited a number of the paper close by – inflicting a hearth.
The title of the fireplace began on this method is “omnidirectional burning glass impact”.
Posting a warning to others on social media, a spokesman for the Appin Group Hearth Station mentioned: “The crew, at 4.43 pm on Saturday, discovered a small fireplace inside a residential home in Connell with Oban’s tools and a flexi responsibility officer. Paged to take part within the fireplace.
“An ornamental crystal globe on the sill of the window ignites close by paper because the solar’s rays go via it—often known as the omnidirectional burning glass impact.
“Though there was no critical injury, it highlighted the hazards of putting glass objects in full daylight.”
